About Global Cafe

Global Cafe is a locally owned and operated establishment that opened in Lawrence in July of 2007 . The owners Rafael & Kate Gonzalez followed their dream of owning cafe that served only the best quality ingredients and offered something unique to the area. The menu ideas were a combination of the couples backgrounds; Rafael coming from Spanish and Venezuelan backgrounds and Kate having an American background but having spent a lot of time in Key West, Florida enjoying the delicious Cuban Foods. The couple has been able to do some traveling and sample various cusines from around the globe.

Global Cafe also is focused on the Green aspect of the restaurant industry and chooses to serve as much local and organic foods as possible. We also recycle as much as we can and will gradually make the transition to becoming a completely green restaurant. Keep your eyes open for the changes that come about!!!

Global Cafe uses only the Organic Fair Trade Coffees and teas, 100% natural fruit juices and a large selection of unique bottled beverages. Their food menu inludes a variety of pressed sandwiches that were inspired by the traditional Cuban pressed sandwich, Arepas (South American grilled cornmeal cake split, buttered, and filled like a sandwich) & Pinchos (Our version of this Spanish tapas which is a skewered, marinated and grilled meat kabob served up with tasty Cuban style black beans, yellow rice).

Global Cafe also has the only all you can eat Salad Bar in Downtown Lawrence and fresh house made soups every day with a warm and comfortable environment and wireless hotspots for lunch time computing. Check out our chat room to find local events and people.
